A U.S. judge has reportedly set June 1, 2027, as the trial date for former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who face drug trafficking charges in the United States.

According to the report, both have pleaded not guilty, with Maduro’s legal team planning to challenge the legality of his capture and argue that he is protected by sovereign immunity.

The case stems from allegations by the Trump administration linking Maduro to a cocaine trafficking conspiracy, claims he has denied.

If convicted, Maduro could face life in prison.
