The Trump administration has announced new rules that will replace the long-standing "duration of status" policy for international students and exchange visitors.
Under the changes, MOST new F and J visa holders will be allowed to stay in the U.S. for up to four years before needing to apply for an extension.
The policy also reduces the post-graduation grace period for many students from 60 days to 30 days and secures rules for changing schools or academic programmes.
Officials say the changes are intended to strengthen visa oversight, while critics warn they could create challenges for students enrolled in longer degree programmes.
