US singer and actor Tyrese Gibson has teamed up with American-Jamaican rapper Busta Rhymes for a cocktail fundraiser titled Helping Hands for Jamaica, aimed at raising funds to support relief efforts in Jamaica following the devastating passage of category 5 hurricane Melissa.
Tyrese made the announcement on Sunday via his Instagram with the flyer for the cocktail reception, to be held this Friday, December 5, in Miami Beach, Florida. The caption read: My brother Busta Rhymes and I are standing shoulder to shoulder for something bigger than all of us. Jamaica needs us right now...This isn't just a fundraiser, it's a mission."
Along with Tyrese, star of the renowned Fast and Furious film series and singer behind Sweet Lady, and rapper Busta Rhymes, model Winnie Harlow will serve as part of the host committee with a slew of executives and entertainers across US media and production.
The Helping Hands for Jamaica Cocktail Reception serves as the second major hurricane relief effort organised by Gibson, the first being his personal delivery of relief items alongside Reach Out Worldwide, shortly after Melissa's passage in early November.
