Share

Today is the inauguration of US President, Donald Trump. The event moved indoors due to the frigid weather ourdoors, however, social media was a hotbed of debates surrounding the musical acts slated for the inauguration.
Rapper Snoop Dog, Soulja Boy and Rick Ross faced heat on social media for their performance at the Crypto Ball, which honoured Trump and hailed him as "America's First Crypto President". Snoop fans were quick to recall when Trump was first elected in 2017, he said anyone willing to perform were "Uncle Toms." Though his stance towards Trump seemingly changed in 2021, due to Trump commuting the prison sentence of Snoop’s friend, Death Row Records founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris, several media outlets and fans are calling Snoop’s Performance as “embarrassing”.
Soulja Boy hit back at critics, saying "Obama never put money in my pocket...Trump put money in my pocket". He continued his rant with "Did Kamala call my phone?...did Obama call my phone?...you want me to not answer the phone for President of the United States?"
Nelly, defended his decision to participate in an inauguration event, saying, "It is an honor for me to perform for the President of the United States, regardless of who is in office."
