Celebrities have gathered to mourn the loss of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
On Monday (July 21), reports surfaced that the former Cosby Show star died from asphyxia, after accidentally drowning during a family trip in Costa Rica.
The 54-year-old was swimming at a beach. His body was identified on Sunday. The late entertainer, musician and poet is survived by a wife and daughter.
Reacting to the tragic news were celebrities and political figures like singer Maxwell, comedian and television personality Loni Love, civil rights attorney Ben Crump, actor J. August Richards, Bernice King, the youngest child of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Tracey Ellis Ross.
Television star Bill Cosby also reacted to the news.
Warner rose to fame playing Theo Huxtable on NBC’s The Cosby Show, a role that made him a household name in the 1980s and earned him an Emmy nomination at just 16.
Following The Cosby Show, Warner starred in the UPN sitcom Malcolm & Eddie alongside Eddie Griffin, which ran for four seasons. He later appeared in recurring roles on shows like Community, Suits and The Resident, where he played Dr. AJ Austin.
