Tourism Product Development Company Ltd TPDCO has withdrawn Rick’s Café’s Covid-19 compliance certification with immediate effect.
TPDCO says this follows the breach of Covid-19 health and safety protocols at Rick’s Café in Negril.
There has been outrage by many persons including members of the entertainment sector, about how a party was permitted at Rick’s Cafe yesterday (Fri) in Negril Westmoreland, and concerns about breaches of Covid-19 protocols.
Videos of the event have been circulated on social media and show breaches of Covid protocols including patrons not wearing masks.
A TPDCO statement says Rick’s Café will be required to undergo a re-certification exercise to ensure strict adherence to the established Covid-19 health and safety protocols, before it can be allowed to accept visitors again.
Strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright says the scenes depicted on social media are unacceptable.
