Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett has hailed Jamaica’s Carnival as a powerhouse for the national economy.

Last year’s celebrations generated $165 billion, marking a 48% increase over 2024.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston yesterday (Wed), Minister Bartlett highlighted the strong link between entertainment and tourism. Carnival 2024, which restored visitor numbers to pre pandemic levels, brought in $4.42 billion in direct spending and a total economic impact of $95.4 billion.

He also noted Carnival’s role in Jamaica’s recovery after Hurricane Melissa in October 2025, with visitor arrivals already reaching 75% of projections.

Carnival 2026 kicks off with pre events on April 8, leading to the main road march on April 12, set to transform Kingston once again into a lively cultural hub.
