Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been transferred to the California Men’s Colony from the California Correctional Institution, where he was attacked and stabbed multiple times.
According to Billboard, the artiste's dad, Sonstar Peterson, made the announcement during a televised interview on Wednesday.
The incarcerated artiste was stabbed 14 times, resulting in collapsed lungs.
During the interview, Sonstar said, "He’s being moved because it’s part of the prison’s protocol that when a situation like this happens. They believe it’s better for him to be in another facility, and so he is being moved as we speak…One thing of course, we are concerned about is because my son is a high-profile person and when things like this happen, there is always some kind of weird news going out trying to spin it to be something else.”
According to his attorney, Crystal Morgan, Lanez is “doing fine, considering the severity of his injuries,” but is reportedly unhappy with the transfer, as he had “built a personal community” at his previous facility.
Just days before the incident, Lanez shared a light-hearted photo with fellow inmates on his verified Instagram, appearing in good spirits.
For context, Lanez who was born Daystar Peterson, was convicted in August 2023 after being found guilty of firing shots at Megan Thee Stallion following a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home in 2020. Despite the conviction, he has maintained his innocence.
As he recovers and adjusts to his new surroundings, many are watching closely to see how this chapter unfolds for the controversial artist.
