Top Boy star Michael Ward has been hit with rape and sexual assault charges.
The 27-year-old Jamaican-born star is facing two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault related to an alleged incident involving one woman in January 2023.
Yesterday (August 28), Ward attended a short preliminary hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London and has been granted bail. The case is set to move to Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 25.
While he has not yet entered a formal plea, the "Small Axe" actor has previously issued a statement strongly denying the allegations, stating he has “co-operated fully” with police and has “full faith” that the process will clear his name.
Ward rose to fame after winning the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020 and has since become one of the most recognisable young actors in British film and television.
