TikTok Ban: Celeb Reactions

Share

After a months-long legal battle over a ban-or-divest law passed by the American Congress last year, TikTok went dark over the weekend, inciting several reactions from social media users, including a few celebrities.
At around 10:30 pm on Saturday, a message popped up on users’ screens stating, "Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now. We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!"
Lizzo shared a photo of the funeral program for “Takesha “TikTok Woods,” with the caption “They really took her... MY SHAYLA,” referencing a Tyrese meme.
Kourtney Kardashian posted a highlight reel on her Instagram Story bidding farewell to TikTok. At the same time, several TikTok stars shared their disappointment in the app being taken down while sharing past viral videos.
The app returned shortly after, with Donald Trump declaring that he would "most likely" give the platform a 90-day extension.
