The much-anticipated race since the Olympics, the 100 meters at the Prefontaine Classics, happened on Saturday and make no mistake the whole world was watching as our Jamaican queens took to the track.

One, two, three was calling once more, as Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Sherica Jackson showed everyone why we are named the sprint capital of the world. 19-year-old Brianna Williams finished in a commendable 8th place. Sha’Carri Richardson, who earlier declared, “August 21 and I’m not playing nice”, finished in last place.

Richardson had been throwing subtle shade at the Jamaican sprinters since her performance at the US Olympic trials back in June. As we reported, she was subsequently removed from the US Olympic team and received a 30-day suspension after testing positive for cannabis following her performance at the trials.

Shenseea, Drake, Beenie Man, Nicki Minaj and Safaree are just a few of the celebrities who reacted to Sha’Carri losing to the Jamaican trio.

Love and Hip Hop star Safaree captioned a video of his reaction on IG, “Yo that race was so crazy I couldn’t even react. SHOCKKKKKKKKKKK. WOW! I wanna race @usainbolt I think I stand a chance!.” Nicki Minaj in her IG stories wrote, “Yaaas Goodie” with a Jamaican flag followed by a broom representing the sweep. While Drake posted in his stories, “they know she woulda ate”. Beenie Man posted “123” followed by Jamaican flag emoji while Shenseea used a few choice words to express her excitement, she ended her post by saying “Jamaica”.
