The Weeknd is among the top nominees for the American Music Awards AMA’s.
The “Take My Breath” singer scores six nominations at this year’s show, behind Olivia Rodrigo, who leads with seven. Both artists will compete in the Artist of the Year category, as well as Favorite Music Video and Favorite Pop Song.
Following with five nominations each are Doja Cat, Giveon, and Bad Bunny. Doja Cat, 2020’s New Artist of the Year, earns nods for Favorite Female R&B Artist, Favorite R&B Album, and Favorite Female Pop Artist, among others.
A first-time nominee, Giveon, is up for New Artist of the Year, Favorite Male R&B Artist, and Collaboration of the Year for Justin Bieber’s chart-topping hit “Peaches.”
Other multiple nominees include Drake and Ariana Grande with four apiece, while Cardi B, Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, Pop Smoke, SZA, Jazmine Sullivan, and Silk Sonic all receive four nods.
The 2021 American Music Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 21.
