Yesterday (February 5), the Zee spilled the tea on Rihanna stepping into her Blue Era.
If you remember, Rih had teased fans with a clip of Smurfette blowing a kiss on a tiny blue TV, sparking speculation that the Bajan billionaire would be voicing the beloved character. She hinted that all would be revealed "tomorrow"—and now, the wait is over!
The Smurfs movie trailer has officially dropped, confirming Rihanna as Smurfette alongside a brand-new track, Higher Love, by Desi Trill featuring Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Natania, and Subhi.
In the trailer, Rihanna introduces the film before leading viewers into Smurf Village, where the fun is cut short when Papa Smurf is abducted. The Smurfs then embark on a journey to the human world to save him. The trailer also features Rihanna’s rendition of Heaven Is a Place on Earth and her hit Don’t Stop the Music.
Co-produced by Rihanna, the movie boasts a star-studded cast and is set to hit theaters on July 18.
Fans flooded the Diamonds singer’s comments, celebrating the chance to hear her voice again—especially since this might be the closest they’ll get to the long-awaited R9 album.
