The National Works Agency (NWA) has stated that efforts are ongoing to clear and repair roads that became impassable following the effects of Tropical Storm Rafael.
These roads include the Bog Walk Gorge, the Bartons to Ginger Ridge Main Road in St. Catherine, and the main road stretching from Union to Vauxhall or from Appleton to Magotty in St. Elizabeth.
Stephen Shaw, the NWA’s Communications Manager, mentioned that work is currently underway on both the Bog Walk Gorge and the Bartons to Ginger Ridge Main Road.
However, he noted that the government will need to make a decision regarding the next steps for the main road from Union to Vauxhall.
Mr. Shaw also indicated that evaluations are still being conducted to estimate the cost of damage to the island’s road network.
