The champagne papi seems to be teasing the end of his current era and the beginning of a new one in a cryptic new Instagram post.
The post featured a photo dump of sentimental images, including a photo of him and his father, selfies, and scenes from his Anita Max tour. A lengthy, lyric-like caption that read, “You know I grew up non confrontational and always treated this game as a sport where my pen won gold, but my these days the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore. I under-stand that this next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy, but I hope you see my honesty as clarity not charity that answers some questions especially about the unanswered texts you’ve been sending me.”
The development was discussed on the pop-culture commentary radio show The Breakfast Club, where the hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, and Jess Hilarious surmised that he could be seeking penance for his recent combativeness amidst his feud and diss track exchange with rapper Kendrick Lamar. Charlamagne ended the discussion by saying, “Okay, Drake. All you did was lose a rap battle. Nobody has handled losing a rap battle worse than Drake…You still rich, people still checking for your music.”
