Carnival goodie-bag “un-baggings” have begun rolling out as distribution schedules commence ahead of Jamaica Carnival 2025.
With less than a week to go until the big day, patrons have started collecting their costumes. The Jamaican band's unspoken competition with the best goodie bag is underway as revellers participate in social media unboxings.
It is a contest that started almost accidentally as bands made their costume packages more attractive to prospective carnival patrons. What was once samples from sponsors and, of course, the quintessential drinks tumbler has turned into several cups of different styles, beach towels, hats, flags, snacks, seasonings and, for some revellers, even a Fenty Gloss Bomb.
It isn't just the contents of the bag but the bag itself. With more goodies come higher-quality bags, with some bands, like Xodus, moving away from the standard duffel bag and providing band members with a more luggage-style bag this year.
