Beginning now, only human performances and human-written scripts will qualify for nominations and awards at film's biggest awards ceremony.
The newly instated rule states only performances "demonstrably performed by humans with their consent" will qualify for acting categories and all nominated screenplays must be fully "human-written", keeping the awards show strictly human-created. The move was seen by the Academy as a necessary step to make in an increasingly digitally optimized reality.
The announcement was made today and will take immediate effect.
