Actress and first-time Oscar nominee Teyana Taylor is pushing back after some viewers criticised her enthusiastic reaction when fellow nominee Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress.
Taylor was seen cheering and celebrating Madigan’s win, but the moment sparked online commentary questioning her reaction. The singer-actor quickly shut down the criticism, saying detractors simply aren’t used to seeing genuine sportsmanship.
According to Taylor, some people have “grown comfortable being sore losers,” adding that celebrating someone else’s victory is about knowing how to win and lose do so with grace.
Despite the chatter, Taylor appeared to take the night in stride. She also shared a playful behind-the-scenes moment involving director Paul Thomas Anderson, revealing that putting him in a brief headlock while collecting Best Picture was just an inside joke between the two.
For Taylor, the message was simple: good vibes, good sportsmanship, and no room for unnecessary negativity.
