Taxi operators across the island have expressed disappointment that there was no announcement by Transport Minister Robert Montague yesterday, to grant them a fare increase.

The Minister in his Sectoral Debate contribution acknowledged the calls for a fare increase but said in examining the factors driving this call, there had to be balance.

Taxi operators have been calling for a fare increase, citing high operational costs, and not having an increase for several years.

President of the National Council of Taxi Association Allan Blair says, the Association is disheartened that operators were not granted a fare increase, but it will not relent.

He says steps are being made to have further discussions with the Minister.
