Music producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor is turning a viral moment into a wake-up call about Jamaica’s growing tolerance for violence.
Earlier this week, a video from Mandeville showing an eyewitness calling a deadly shooting a “good shooting” first caught McGregor’s eye as a remix idea, but the full story left him disturbed.
The footage followed a four-hour standoff between police and a gunman who had already killed a civilian, ending with the suspect’s death.
Rather than join the viral trend, McGregor transformed the clip into a remix that reminds Jamaicans that extreme violence shouldn’t be treated as normal.
Posting a snippet of the track on Instagram, he urged reflection on public attitudes toward crime, and the remix has since gained widespread attention on social media.
