A state of emergency has been declared in British Columbia, Canada’s westernmost province, after a major storm disrupted road and rail connections in the area.

The Canadian Armed Forces have been deployed to assist thousands of stranded residents who have been trapped since the storm hit overnight on Sunday.

During a visit to Washington, DC, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged assistance and stated that troops would assist in the rebuilding.
A landslide killed one woman and left two others missing.
