A St. Ann man has been formally charged, following the tragic killing of his two young children in Moneague last Tuesday.

The accused, 23-year-old labourer Alain Saunders of Swamp District, now faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his one-year-old son, Amir Saunders, and three-year-old stepson, Shamir Henry. Both children were residents of the same community.

Police reports indicate that the incident unfolded at Saunders’ home, where the children’s mother was also injured and is currently recovering from her wounds.

Investigators believe Saunders may have been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the attack, after allegedly consuming ganja tea.

He is expected to appear in court to answer to the charges.
