Spice is going to Canada, but not for vacation.

Canadian LGBTQ group, Pride Toronto, has shared that dancehall star Spice will headline their Pride Festival this year.

Pride Toronto shared the news on their official Instagram page yesterday

“It just got a lot more spicier in here! The Queen of Dancehall @spiceofficial will be headlining #Pride2022! What will you be wearing?”

However, this somehow is not good news to local selector Foota Hype. He shared his thoughts on Instagram. “In all my 20+ years as an established product of Jamaica and dancehall and reggae music this is the first time I feel completely defeated ashamed embarrassed weak betrayed in my subconscious mind I was confident that two ppl i would never live to see do this was Spice and Bounty.” He said. The selector post continued, “what I see going is that moral values are no longer important the only thing that matters is MONEY the preservation of our music, culture and righteous values don’t count.“ He also shared that he unfollowed the queen as he would not like her page to “infect his brain.”

Devin The Doctor jumped in saying that music is for everyone despite your sexuality and you cannot control who listens and supports you. Sizzla also joined the conversation and reposted an image of Spice with “Do not do this show” written on it. He captioned the post, “We nah sell out ,we nuh hungry, jamaica full a good food and very nice people our African heritage and culture is rich .”

This will be the first in-person staging of the event in two years. The full month of programming will begin on June 1, concluding with the annual Festival Weekend on June 24-25-26, 2022.
