The Principal of the Spanish Town High School in St. Catherine, Dr. Ventley Brown, says there was no locking out of students last week.

He insists the school conforms with all policies and guidelines of the Education Ministry, adding that it’s not a practice to bar students from entering the compound.

Dr. Brown describes as unfortunate, a short video on social media showing about 4 students outside the school gate in the rain.

There has been criticism on social media in recent days about students being locked out for being late.

Dr. Brown explains that the because the school is located in a volatile area, the gate is kept locked for safety reasons.

The principal reveals that in recent years there were two major incidents, which highlight the need for the gate to be kept locked.
