Singer Karen Smith dies after cancer battle

Members of the Entertainment Advisory Board has expressed deep sadness at the passing of Jamaican singer Karen Smith.

Smith has passed away this morning at the Baywest Wellness Hospital in St James, after battling colon cancer. She was 61 years old.

‘Karen was such a vibrant member of the EAB! As former President of the Jamaica Federation of Musicians and Affiliates Union (JFMU), she has advocated for the members with professionalism at all times,’ said Howard McIntosh, Chairman of the EAB.

‘We will miss her jovial and encouraging spirit as she fervently spoke about the resilience of Jamaican Entertainers. Her contribution over 40 years across the Music, Tourism and Entertainment Industries will be greatly missed,’ McIntosh continued.
