SHERICKA JACKSON WINS 200M AT ROME DIAMOND LEAGUE IN UPSET

Olympic relay gold medallist Shericka Jackson set the Rome Diamond League Meeting on fire yesterday, beating double Olympic champion and compatriot Elaine Thompson Herah, to win the women’s 200m.

Racing against a quality field, including Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain, the decorated Allison Felix and the Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller Uibo of the Bahamas, Jackson pulled away in the final 50m, to finish in a new meet record and season best 21.91 seconds.

Thompson-Herah crossed the line in a season’s best 22.25 seconds, with reigning world champion Dina Asher Smith third also in a season best 22.27 seconds.
