Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has officially announced her retirement, bringing the curtain down on an extraordinary 18-year career.

The multiple World and Olympic champion, affectionately known as the Pocket Rocket, had hinted earlier this year that the National Championships and World Championships would be her final outings, but last night, she made it official in a heartfelt statement on social media.

Fraser-Pryce reflected that the sport had given her “joy beyond measure” and helped shape her life from her early days in Waterhouse to global stardom.

While she’s stepping off the track, the sprint queen says she has “more plans in the pipeline”, signaling that her legacy is far from over.
