The usually vocal Whoopi Goldberg was left lost for words when a guest on ‘The View‘ made a comment about her weight.
Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran made an appearance on the US daytime talk show when the discussion turned to size-inclusive jeans. Goldberg, 65, said , “Will they fit this COVID?” Corcoran responded by saying, “And when you get finished with those jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m going to make two pairs.”
Many Twitter users described the remarks as “fat-shaming.”
After facing intense social media backlash, Barbara Corcoran took to Twitter to issue an apology. “I just came back from ‘The View’ and saw my old friend Whoopi,” she said. “She has a phenomenal sense of humor, and I’ve known Whoopi for years…” she said. “I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny, for anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”
