After several consecutive weeks of increases in gas prices, two rural taxi associations have renewed their call for the government to reduce the tax on fuel.

The call comes ahead of a meeting of several taxi associations this evening, to discuss the issue of rising gas prices.

President of the Central Manchester taxi association, Shirley Johnson, said the continued gas price increases combined with other costs are taking a toll on operators.

He said some operators are contemplating not renewing their public passenger vehicle licenses.

Meanwhile, the President of the Port Antonio Eastern taxi association, Paul Blake, shared similar sentiments on the price of fuel faced by operators.
