Several flights to and from Jamaica have been impacted, following the closure of London’s Heathrow Airport in the United kingdom.
The airport was shut down, after a fire broke at a nearby electrical substation that supplies it with power.
According to the BBC this resulted in flights being cancelled.
People were also evacuated from their homes and local schools were closed.
State Minister for Tourism Delano Seiveright said although initial statements said disruptions should end at midday, it is expected that further delays and cancellations could happen.
