The National Environment and Planning Agency NEPA, has found several areas of non compliance, with the regulatory instruments at the Jamaica Zoo Attraction Limited, in Lacovia St. Elizabeth.

This after a site visit and assessment by NEPA, the Veterinary Services Division and the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals yesterday,

The visit follows the viral video, in which a zoo attendant’s finger was bitten off by a lion at the weekend.

In a statement released on social media last evening, NEPA said the team also found issues of animal health and animal welfare.

The agency said a report on the findings is being prepared for discussion among the visiting team, to determine the final action to be taken.
