Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a $1 million fraud scheme carried out with his mother, Janice Turner. After completing his sentence, the 'Beautiful Girls' singer will serve three years of supervised release.
Turner, who was sentenced in July to five years in prison, and Kingston were convicted in March of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.
The pair’s arrest followed a May 2024 SWAT raid on Kingston’s rented mansion in Southwest Ranches, Florida. Turner was detained during the raid, while Kingston was later captured at Fort Irwin, a California Army base where he was performing. He waived extradition and was returned to Florida.
Prosecutors say the two fraudulently obtained luxury goods, by issuing fake wire transfer receipts to make it appear payments had been made. In reality, no transfers occurred.
Both Kingston and Turner also face separate state-level fraud charges.
