Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston, along with his mother Janice Turner, appeared in Broward County court on Monday to face charges linked to a $1 million fraud scheme.
They were indicted by a Miami federal grand jury for wire fraud, accused of falsely claiming to have made bank transfers to buy vehicles, jewelry, and other goods.
The alleged fraud resulted in over $500,000 in jewelry, $200,000 from Bank of America, and $160,000 from a car dealership.
Kingston’s lawyer, Robert Rosen-blatt, plans to seek dismissal of either the federal or state case, citing double jeopardy.
Both Kingston and his mother pleaded not guilty, with their next court date scheduled for October 11.
