Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs will remain in custody, as he awaits sentencing, following a judge's decision to deny his request for bail. Combs has been incarcerated since his arrest in September on federal charges involving coercive sexual conduct.
Although he was acquitted of the most serious accusations, racketeering and sex trafficking, Combs was found guilty of two prostitution-related offenses. These convictions carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison. However, sentencing will depend on complex federal guidelines, which remain a point of contention between prosecutors and the defense. Ultimately, the decision rests with Judge Arun Subramanian, who has broad discretion.
Prosecutors alleged that Combs exploited his celebrity status, wealth, and influence to manipulate and abuse former partners, orchestrating drug-fueled sexual encounters that he referred to as “freak-offs” or “hotel nights.”
Now 55, Combs rose to fame as the founder of Bad Boy Records and became a major cultural force, winning Grammys and building a vast business empire across music, fashion, and television.
