Samsung has unveiled three new Galaxy Z foldable smartphones, including the passport-sized Galaxy Z Fold8, while increasing prices on its premium Fold8 Ultra and Flip8 models by US$100.
The launch comes as the company faces rising memory chip costs and growing competition from Apple, which is widely expected to enter the foldable smartphone market this year.
Analysts say the new devices are critical to Samsung’s efforts to defend its leadership in the foldable segment, even as global smartphone sales are forecast to decline.
Despite broader market challenges, foldable smartphone shipments are expected to grow by 20% in 2026.
