World 400 metres champion Antonio Watson and Olympic sprint hurdles finalist Ackera Nugent today became the first two Jamaicans who have been signed by Grand Slam Track, the new global home of Professional Track Competition, launched earlier this year by four-time US Olympic Champion Michael Johnson.
Nnugent and Clarke join a stacked roster of talents announced so far which include : Melissa Jefferson, Quincy Hall, Grant Fisher, Matthew Hudson-Smith, Alison Dos Santos of Brazil and more.
Nugent who holds the national record in the women’s 100 metres hurdles at 12.24 seconds set at the Rome Diamond League, is the 4th fastest women in the history of the event, while Watson won the men’s 400 meters at the Budapest World Championship last summer, to capture Jamaica’s second gold medal in the men’s event and first since 1983.
