Roblox Announces Short-Form Video App, Hikes Developer Earnings

Share

Roblox, during its developers conference on Friday, announced “Roblox Moments,” a TikTok-style short-form video app that is currently in beta.

The app will allow players to record, edit, and share clips of their gameplay on a centralized platform, rather than relying on third-party sites like YouTube.

By doing so, Roblox hopes to capture the billions of views its content already generates elsewhere and drive more user engagement within its own ecosystem.

Alongside the app launch, Roblox revealed an earnings increase for creators, reinforcing its push to attract and retain developers. The company also reported 111.8 million average daily active users for the quarter ending June 30, showing strong platform growth.

In recent years, Roblox has been working to expand beyond gaming, turning its platform into a hub for e-commerce, social interaction, and advertising, in order to diversify revenue in the competitive video game industry.
