Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones said if Jamaicans do not practice road safety, a national disaster is looming.

The country has missed its below 300 road fatalities goal, with 322 road deaths recorded since the start of the year.

Dr. Jones said if road users continue on the same path, over 400 road deaths could be recorded by the end of the year, which would be a national disaster.

He said the council is applying the safe systems approach, in an effort to reduce road fatalities.
