A little update on the Rihanna home shooting mess!
If you can recall we recently brought the story of the unfortunate incident that took place outside of Bajan Bombshell, Rihanna's home over the weekend.
More details are emerging about the woman accused of firing shots toward the Los Angeles home of Rihanna.
Police say 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly firing about ten shots from a vehicle across the street from the singer’s gated property before driving away. Rihanna was reportedly at home with her children at the time, though thankfully no one was injured.
Investigators say Ortiz had also been posting unsettling messages online in the days leading up to the incident. She runs a small YouTube series called Praying Woman’s Journal, where she reads from the Bible and shares daily faith-based reflections with a handful of subscribers. In some clips, however, she directly referenced Rihanna, accusing the singer of being a “witch” and making disturbing comments about her death.
New court records are also shedding light on Ortiz’s background. Reports say she had previously been placed under Florida’s Baker Act, meaning she was involuntarily held for a psychiatric evaluation. In 2024, a judge granted full custody of her 10 year old child to her ex husband, banning Ortiz from any contact with the child after concerns were raised about her mental health.
According to attorney Hal Roen, who represents Ortiz’s ex-husband, Jed Nikko Valdez Sangalang, Ortiz can come across as very convincing in person. He described her as “articulate” and “very believable,” but added that she has also done “bizarre things,” referencing the alleged shooting incident.
Authorities say the motive behind the attack is still unclear as the investigation continues. Ortiz remains in custody with bail set at just over 10 million US dollars.
