Residents Block Boston Main Road To Protest Prolonged Closure Of Jerk Centre

Numerous commuters were left stranded this morning (Fri), when angry residents blocked Boston Main Road in Portland, protesting the prolonged closure of the popular Jerk Centre.

The health department ordered the facility's closure on September 6, following an inspection that revealed unsatisfactory sanitary conditions.

Since then, multiple meetings have taken place in an effort to reach a resolution for reopening the center.

However, stakeholders, including jerk vendors, are frustrated, claiming that the health inspectors’ standards are harming their livelihoods.

In response, they took to the streets today, using old appliances like refrigerators, as well as stones and other debris, to obstruct Boston Main Road.

The police have since reopened the road, allowing traffic to pass in a single lane.
