RECORD NUMBER OF COVID CASES RECORDED IN JAMAICA

Jamaica has recorded its highest number of Covid-19 cases, since the pandemic began.

1,128 persons have tested positive for the virus, pushing the case count to 98,194.

Of the new cases, 645 are females and 476 are males.

They range in age from 2 months to 96 years.

All parishes recorded new cases, with Kingston and St. Andrew recording the highest number of cases with 480.

The positivity rate has increased sharply to 46.8 per cent.

Meantime, 3 more persons have died from the virus, pushing the country’s death tally to 2,486.

The deceased lived in St. Catherine; one male aged 46 and two females aged 86 years old.

One other death is under investigation.

Hospitalizations continue to rise, with 204, 35 of them are moderately ill, 23 are severely ill and 3 are critically ill.

Meantime, 89 more persons have recovered from the virus, pushing total recoveries to 66, 236.
