Many social media users and local celebrities have paid birthday tributes to Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel for his 43rd birthday. One of these celebrities is Reggae singer, Queen Ifrica, who posted on her Instagram on Monday, a photo of Vybz Kartel with the caption,
“Happy earthday vybz. long life good health and most of all my wish for you is that when you win this appeal and come back to your fans, and the world, that you would please please use your power to help and save some of our youths.”
Queen Ifrica issued this sentiment despite the previous altercation in November between both artists when Ifrica posted on Instagram asking for an apology from Kartel who accused her of bleaching her skin. The video had gone viral and Vybz Kartel disregarded her request for an apology.
The situation followed the release of Spice’s new single “Black Hypocrisy” which speaks to the issue of colourism.
