Some 30 percent of public health inspectors across the island are back on the job, following a sick-out yesterday (Thurs).

The Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors JAPHI yesterday held an emergency meeting with its members, after a day of industrial action yielded no response from the Finance Ministry.

More than 95 percent of public health inspectors across the island, called in sick after being on edge over what they say is the slow pace of the wage negotiations for the 2017/2021 contract period.

Health departments islandwide, the poultry industry and even some ports of entry were among those impacted.
