President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, PSOJ, Howard Mitchell is calling on the government to address what he describes as the country’s growing waste management crisis.

Mr. Mitchell says a lack of policy, little or no coordination among state agencies and an absence of will from the ministerial leadership to address the improper waste management in Jamaica is an ongoing issue that must be resolved with urgency.

He says it appears that neither the government nor the Opposition is prepared to develop a long term policy on waste management in Jamaica, not to make any decision regarding critical health threatening failures of waste treatment in the country.
