The Department of Correctional Services is investigating the circumstances surrounding an interview allegedly conducted with incarcerated Dancehall Artiste Vybz Kartel, which was aired on Fox 5 New York in the United States on Wednesday evening and last night.
The Department says it takes the alleged breaches seriously and is probing the matter assiduously.
The Department says there are established protocols for individuals seeking to conduct interviews at our correctional institutions which were not followed.
In the meantime, one of Kartel’s attorneys, Isat Buchanan, confirmed that the interviewee’s voice heard in the interview was indeed Kartel.
Buchanan said the interview was done a few weeks ago when the artiste was at the St. Catherine Adult Correctional facility.
