Defending champions Portmore United on the resumption of the Red Stripe Premier League on Sunday, January 6, moved to the top of the standings at least for 24 hours.

This after they stopped St. Ann-based outfit mount Pleasant FC 1 nil at the Spanish Town Prison Oval yesterday, thanks to Ricardo Morris who scored in the 39th minute.

Winning coach Savar Thomas says adding points to their tally is most critical at this stage of the competition.

Portmore now leads the table on 36 points while Mount Pleasant remains 5th in the standings on 27.

Elsewhere, UWI blanked Dunbeholden 1 nil, Reno handed Tivoli a similar 1 nil defeat while Arnett Gardens and Harbour View drew nil all in their clash.

Humble Lion edged Mobay United 2 – 1 after a late brace from Francios Swaby in the dying moments of the game.
