Police reports a 4 per cent increase in murders


The number of murders, according to the police, has increased by 4%.

According to the most recent crime statistics made public by the police, 958 killings were reported up until Friday, August 19, 37 more than the 921 murders reported during the same period last year.

With 132 homicides, the St. James police division had the most, followed by St. Catherine north with 94.

Additionally, there were an increase in robberies and break-ins.

Meantime, there was a decline in reported cases of rape.
