PM WILL NOT RESIGN – JLP

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has sought to make it clear that Prime Minister Andrew Holness will remain in office.

This, following a call from the opposition People’s National Party (PNP) for the Prime Minister to demit office immediately.

The PNP this morning said Holness should step down to preserve the dignity of Jamaica’s democracy.

The JLP has rejected the call. The party maintains that the Integrity Commission report upon which the PNP premised its call, found the Prime Minister culpable of no wrongdoing.

It said the Director of Corruption Prosecution was clear in suggesting that the Prime Minister’s explanation is credible and therefore prosecution is unwarranted.

JLP spokesperson Juliet Cuthbert Flynn said the position taken by the PNP is baseless.
