Prime Minister Andrew Holness has given the clearest indication that Jamaicans will be going to the polls very soon.
Some political commentators had said the Prime Minister might use a meeting of his party’s central executive yesterday to announce a day for the upcoming elections.
He did not give a date but told the gathering that now is the time to go to the people and that now is as good as any other time.

…….. Meanwhile, Dwight Sibblies, who is challenging heavyweight Horace Dalley, who won the Northern Clarendon seat in consecutive elections from 1989 until 2007, is quoting a Blue Dot poll showing a trend towards the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in the traditional People’s National Party (PNP) seat.
Of the 405 residents who participated in the sample in the three divisions of Anon Town, Crofts Hill and Kellits, 35 per cent are positive about the JLP and 14 per cent are very positive, while 24 per cent are positive about the PNP, with a mere five per cent being very positive. The poll has a plus or minus probability of five per cent.
