Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL) has strongly denied reports that it suffered significant losses in the administration of the recently concluded 2020-2021 Jamaica Premier League season.
The PFJL was able to secure nearly JMD $200 million in sponsorship, payout nearly JMD $43 million Jamaican dollars to clubs, present financials 30 days after the season ended, hire and mobilize external auditors, and televise all of the season’s games.
The PFJL has admitted to a loss of JMD $8million after an unnamed sponsor defaulted on a contract worth 88 million Jamaican dollars.
One of the main issues addressed by the PFJL was that of prize money, which it insists will be paid this month despite not providing an exact date.
